Fuel Tank Vent Mod

Writer's picture: Evan GriffinEvan Griffin

An expansion chamber in the wing allows approx, 4 gal of overflow due heating up of the fuel on a hot day. The original pipe allowing the air to vent from this area is inadequately placed and limits this to about 2 gal. The result is regularly seeing fuel spillage on the TM.

Jim cuts a 2 inch hole in the rib, removes the original pipe and installs a 3/8in vertical tube(pictured) that allows full venting.

The holes disc is Hysol‘d back into position.

Of course, if that space gets occupied with expanding fuel, it’ll expel through vent to the ground.
